Smartcard Gemalto .NET IM V3 (IDPrime 510)

The Gemalto IDPrime .NET 510 (a.k.a. Gemalto .NET IM v3, former legacy names and versions Gemalto .NET IM V2+ also SafeSite .NET v2 corporate) offers new possibilities in development and use, because of its support in microsoft infrastructures.

The Gemalto .NET card is best supported in Microsoft infrastructures, (from development to card management) because of the Microsoft Base Smard Card CSP. This CSP is already included since Microsoft Vista and 7, older Versions of the Microsoft operating systems can be updated with the MS Base Smart Card CSP via Online Update (KB 909520). The necessary MiniDriver for the MS Base SC CSP, which holds the minimum card specific informations, is already on the system.

The Gemalto .NET IM V3 card contains the assembly for the MS Base Smart Card CSP (MiniDriver assembly), (optional also the Protiva OATH OTP Assembly, this means, that this card can generate Protiva One Time Passwords)

The .NET IM V3 card is supported by the Microsoft FIM (former ILM - Identiy Lifecycle Manager/Certificate Lifecycle Manager) and can be managed by this card management system for enterprises. For small and medium sized enterprises Gemalto is offering the Gemalto IDAdmin 100 (former Allynis Device Administration Service - DAS) or Gemalto IDAdmin 200 (=vSEC:CMS from versatile security) to manage .NET Cards. For Enterprises we suggest the Intercede MyID Card and Credential Management System. CRYPTAS is offering all 3 solutions!

Don't use the unpersonlized .NET card (with default keys) in a productive environment !!

PIN-administration on XP can be done via the Pintool(.exe) which is installed together with MS Base SC CSP in KB 909520, in Vista, W7, W8 it is done like a password change. An unblock of the pin can be done via challenge response according to Microsoft Specification. The response can be calculated with some free tools tool or the management solutions named above.

Of course, the .NET card is most used for Smart Card Windows Logon but the Gemalto .NET card is also tested and listed by many third party software and solution provider (citrix, vmware,..).
